Indeed the installer failed. So if that gets official, I think
that should be fixed.
Smaller size has a simple explanation: This LiveCD contains minimal Ubuntu
system and only Trinity software - see the trinity-livecd package

Please, do you have any more detailed information on how the installation
failed? In any case, you are right, iso could be upgraded to the current
version of Ubuntu 16.04.x.
- So I will now install Ubuntu 16. First and then
trinity.
- one of my favorite applications is systemsetting (which still
runs in Ubuntu 14) that includes a MaxOS type of control center.
That seems to be absent in 16. Anybody has an idea??
The tde-systemsettings-trinity package seems to be in place for Ubuntu
16.04 - just install it :)
