On console / terminal?! No graphics available for Felmon.

yeah, that's the problem.
however I got my '|'!
I've booted to MX, specifically MX-19.2_ahs_x64.iso.
it crashes out of the DE to the command line or rather stalls on F7
but you get a command line at F1. the alt-gr+> trick works!
I think it's detected wi-fi! iwconfig yields some output for wlan0.
ah, 'nmcli device wifi list' shows various SSIDs!
'inxi -G' doesn't say much.
so that's brought me far. in principle I could install a command-line
only system.
not sure how much more I want to struggle but maybe I can get a DE
working.

Felix Miata mentioned something about installing TDE entirely by the
command-line. Now where is he when we need him?
we don't need him!
well, we do actually, but not in this case - I GOT A DESKTOP!
I booted MX again; it's got a funny text-based options window - you
can select language etc. that helps.
but on the kernel parameter line I tried
amdgui.dc=0
which is a little ditty I found last night actually but lost track of.
now it's started a DE, seems to be some kind of xfce.
I'm going to try the little ditty on a Debian Live usb. the kernel on
this version of MX is:
Linux mx1 5.6.0-2-amd64
it's Buster of course.
resolution looks fine btw.
I'm a bit late to the party now :)
Ify can, stay away from systemd. i.e. MX is nice, IMO you can install TDE on it, too. And
Devuan of course :)
