That sounds like the sftp server is not working or blocked.
Check this from a command line:
sftp -vvv localhost
If you get something like "ssh: connect to host localhost port 22: Connection
refused" check the ssh_config file (should tell you where it's at in the
second or third line of output). If that looks okay, check your firewall.

After pressing the "Stop"-icon konqueror
does not
honor keyboard input any more, but I can close it normally.
Hmm, yeah, that's odd, in Debian 10 (buster) I never lose keyboard input.
