I'd probably use a PERL or awk one-liner to generate a list of installed packages and apt-get install --reinstall them all.
If I couldn't just abandon the failing ssd apart from any data that needed backing up.

I'm still wondering if there's a way to fix the tdeinit/dcopserver problem (without reinstalling everything).
