ps, my solution was to rename the executable responsible:
/opt/trinity/bin/kdesktop_lock to kdesktop_lock.bk
I think this is a problem with kdesktop_lock in general, perhaps
also related with different themes.

I've decided to adopt Greg's solution. I'm the only user of this
machine so killing the lock isn't going to affect anybody else.
PS. The last time I tried to file a bug report, it wanted a password
and wouldn't let me.
