I'm not sure what the best version of Trinity would be for Wheezy - I suspect
Slavek's patched version of 3.5.13, at least until 3.5.14 is released.
To avoid getting Gnome on a fresh Debian install don't chose one of
the 'default' systems types i.e. desktop, server, developer system etc. but
instead choose to select which packages you want to install manually. This
will leave you with a minimal bootable Debian system from which you can use
dselect to chose and install the specific packages you want. If you chose
any Gnome or GTK packages you'll end up with some Gnome components, as
dselect sorts out and installs the dependencies, but not the full Gnome
desktop.
