Do you know what package Gnome 3 uses as its login/display manager (e.g.
lightdm, gdm, etc.)?
I assume you never see the TDM login screen? If this is the case it
sounds like Gnome 3 is overriding the default display manager.

Hi Tim,
I'd have to reinstall to make sure, but I think yes I did not get a login
screen. Loging out from Gnome Shell I get no option to change to TDE. My
solution is to fire Synaptic, and uninstall Gnome Shell (and dependancies) -
I just checked nothing important was being uninstalled with it.
No biggie for me, as I anyway don't want Gnome Shell... Just a sign of the
way Gnome is going (tha Microsoft way...).
