There is a setting in konqueror for combining all
downloads in one
dialog. Uncheck this checkbox:
Konqueror -> Settings -> Configure Konqueror -> Behavior -> Show network
operation in a single window (the second
checkbox from top).

Cheers indeed, that does appear to have solved it. I wonder how that
got checked? Hmmm....
Now to search the archives and see if there was a solution to "Set
'Detail List View' as the default in Konqueror", because I know I saw
that subject pass before my eyes some time in the last 10 years....
