Hello Everybody,
Thanks to the team for the new TDE stable release. You did a good job !
What is the roadmap for the next stable release ? There will be some new fonctionalities or only bugfix ?
See you ;)
Hi all, there isn't a 100% defined roadmap, in the sense that we have not set a fixed date for the next minor release (R14.1.0). The reason is very simple: developers are very few and their free time is very variable over the months (based on how busy they are with work, family, ....). Anyhow the general concept goes like this:
- any maintenance release (R14.X.Y) will contain only bug fixes for that series (R14.X). We aim at releasing every few
months, or if you want you can use the Preliminary Stable Builds to get the latest bug fixes ahead of release time
- any new minor R14.X.0 release will contain new features + all the bug fixes developed for the previous R14.X-1 series.
I think it is fair to say that with the current workforce you can expect the release time to be in the order of 2/3 years each time.
Regarding R14.1.0, some new features have already been developed, you can check at http://trinity.etherpad.trinitydesktop.org/86 to have an overview of the major changes.
Hope this help :-) Cheers Michele
Hi Michele,
I'm OK with the concept, i prefer the TDE goal to the Gnome3 one. I prefer a rock solid desktop environment like TDE =) I'm very pleased to see how much TDE live those times. Planing to release bugfixe every few month is a good thing.
Thanks for the Etherpad link, it's very interesting =)
About this major improvement : * tdebase - Disabled storage device autoplay popups in favor of unobtrusive notifications near system tray that can be clicked on and expanded into the full autoplay popup - perhaps we should give the user an option to choose the preferred behaviour? What do you think? I agree that the user should have the option to choose the behavior =) I like to see the good'old autoplay popup =)
Keep doing good job ;)
I would like to help the team, but i'm not a devel, only a little sysadmin =)
