But, try
tdm-trinity or tdm as a name, instead of lightdm.
I personnaly don't use TDM, because it has been plain unreliable for me on
R14 nightly builds, but if it does the job for you, then use it!
<snip>
This concerns me. Is there an open bug report against tdm with more
information?
Thanks!

Hi,
In my opinion, tdm and ksmserver are two weak points of TDE. From my testing on Ubuntu
with nightly builds, it broke up frequently and after a while, I just switched up to
lightdm, but if it is needed, just for the sake of testing, I can reinstall my Ubuntu
system to test it back. I saw too often moments where the system crashed at text mode
login, instead of showing tdm, or moment when I could see ''ksmserver: the
reliable session manager for TDE''. When I can see this text, it is obviously
because it did crash.
KDE Plasma 5 switched to sddm, which is a new dm, probably for reliability reasons, and
integration with newer technologies.
