As a congenitally non-technical person (more concerned with the written word
and music than machines), I can testify to that.
In the ten years plus that I have been part of the mailing list, I have gone
from being an utter n00b to being able to pass for something of an uber geek
in mixed company.
Obviously, I still can't write code or anything like that, but I know enough
to survive in an increasingly technical universe, and nowadays can do things
with my machines that before I never could have imagined even in my wildest
fantasies.

TDE is a *great* desktop; but its greatest aspect is its users,
who are unfailingly helpful, patient, and kind.

I couldn't agree more! The recent help I got here in bringing up a
new computer for the first time in *8 years* was all that and more.
I rarely post -- in fact it had been so long I lost whatever posting
credentials I did have from the past. However I lurk intently. :-)
I have picked up soooo much in the way of skills just by listening
in on many of the conversations here.
