my wife uses swiss italian on Windows - never had the chance to motivate her

on Microsoft Multimedia keyboard (don't blame me for the M$ thing :) - it
turned out M$ multimedia keyboard was the best I could find with wire/USB
a normal key layout and multimedia keys. I don't understand why vendors
start either putting the pipe key somewhere at random on the keyboard or
just omit it)
may be you try with German (Switzerland) and select a variant with
fr_nodeadkeys.
I also use M$ stuff, in my case a mouse that simply is
the best I ever had
(I even have a few spare to make sure I can use them in the future) :)
And as Torvalds is supposed to have said, M$ is not evil, they just make a
crappy OS...
The BENQ Mouse I use, I bought in 2006. The mouse is simple thing - there
are just few switches - you can not make a big mess out of this. The
keyboards are a different beast. What upset me most here is the location of
specific keys. First it started with different notbook manufacturers and
now I see it also on the keyboards. Why the h**l they misplace the keys?!
