I think that was it: Proton is okay with Tor, but requires javascript; which,
for those who don't know better, negates any anonymity you would get from
Tor. (That is, javascript makes pretty much all your information transparent,
regardless whether you are using Tor or a VPN, etc.)
However, if it will at least use an email client (Kmail or Claws), then it is
no worse than any other encrypted connection. Also, there are ways to run
email clients over a secure shell. (I did it before, but am not current on
how-to; but if it could be done before, then I will hope that it can still be
done in future when I get round to it.)
Also I am looking for services similar to Proton. I seem to recall there was
one situated in Iceland: https://www.mailpile.is/
-- which made big promises, but didn't actually seem to work with my system at
the time. Again, I can't recall the reason, as this was maybe a year ago when
I tried it. They were still in development, or only had 64-bit deb packages,
or something like that.
Again, I would ask Slavek to create qt5 dependencies or other necessary
packages, as I imagine that there will be more such requests coming from
others like myself. There is a page somewhere for making requests for Trinity
versions of packages; you just need to provide a link to an existing package
(most recent working version) in the Debian repositories.
