Mageia 3 (following the install
instructions).

However, I've noticed that links, when installing software from Mageia,
contain a directory "cauldron", and uname -a returns an "mga4"
element. I
associate "cauldron" with a development version, am I right?
It might be you've been affected by a known installer bug in the first
version of the DVD .iso.
At the end of installation, did you accepted the installer offer to do a
s/w update *before* the post-installation re-boot?
If so, the 'Cauldron' bug can be avoided by postponing s/w update until
*after* the re-boot.
