what is gtk-tqt-application and how do i fix it?

just plugged in a new external drive and wanted, as i do each time i get a new external backup drive, to reformat it ext4. but now sudo gparted brings this: [kcrash] TDECrash: Application 'gpartedbin-gtk-tqt-application' crashing... this is similar to a problem i encountered recently with my scanner software. i'm running ubuntu 16.04 with TDE 14.0.5. anybody know how i can fix this? -- dep Sent with ProtonMail Secure Email.
