ok, danke. I ran 'sudo apt-get -s update' without error.

acpi issue that vanished after doing a clean wheezy installation.
Can you configure the energy savings settings using kontrol?
before proceeding, what is 'kontrol'? is that 'control center'?
I have a problem there too: it seems to crash out at least when I do
some settings in admin mode, thus:
a) I go to 'control center' and enter 'admin mode'
b) I enable 'global display control'
c) go to 'power management'
d) hit 'apply' (whether I change anything or not)
e) I get the 'crash handler'
not sure how long it's been like this.
the settings are ok for now so one problem at a time.

As for me I am running Jessie and TDE development
version, where
kpowersave is no longer used (actually it does not even build
anymore in Jessie due to the lack of hal), so I can only provide
some general comments/guidelines.
