KControl > KDE components > file associations > find file name patter > type
in .txt > click on plain > move KWrite to the top of the list.

Is there a way to change the default text editor?
I would like to use
kwrite instead of kate.
In Konqueror, right-click on a plain text file, Open With / Other, type in
kwrite or select it from the list, check 'Remember application', click OK.
