As to your
folders being re-created, I found this when searching:
edit ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs
don't know if this helps, I've never had this.

Okay, its come down to that it's Trinity that's causing this issue.
I just purged LXQT from my system and rebooted and edited that file
again, saved it, and then logged out and back in and the file
repopulated itself.
