Hi,
I am wondering if there are any design documents for KDE3/TDE. I have seen
here and there in the code some explanations or README files with design
drafts.
I doubt there are such documents, but still asking for confirmation. It is
hard to always draw a design from the code.
When it comes to testing or changes use cases are very useful, so I am
wondering if there are such documents somewhere.
Or how do you usually work with the code?

Packman is nearly always updating. :-( There ought to be a way to get TDE to
install without hard depends on Packman, having to choose between breaking newly
installed packages, or not installing at all until some other random day. Can't
install in 42.1 either:

I used urpmi with this sequence of urpmi:
urpmi.update -a
urpmi urpmi rpm perl-URPM meta-task udev glibc curl aria2 perl-MDV-Distribconf
wget systemd bash
rpm -e --nodeps fileshareset
urpmi urpmi rpm perl-URPM meta-task udev glibc curl aria2 perl-MDV-Distribconf
wget systemd bash
urpmi --auto-select
urpmq --auto-orphans
urpmi kernel-desktop-latest
Removing filesharset, depended upon by something in Trinity, was necessary for
the first packages to install. Trinity is working. I don't know what part of
Trinity cares about fileshareset. Currently available fileshareset-2.0-1.mga5
due to file /etc/security/fileshare.conf refuses to install over conflict from
drakxtools-backend...mga6.

I found 30+ directories in /tmp/ with names comprised of 10 digits. Each
contains .trinity/share/config/ containing twinrc and twinrulesrc. Why are these
persisting?
This is a multiboot system containing 4 openSUSE installations: 13.1, 42.1, 42.2
and Tumbleweed. Each mounts the same GB filesystem to its /tmp. Only 42.1 and
42.2 have TDE 14.0.4 installed.

[openSUSE 42.2/TDE kcontrol-14.0.4-1.oss422.x86_64 in the current instance]
It seems to be routine here that every 3-4 months I need to use a new TDE
installation with individual tdecmshell fonts and/or xserver modules (so that I
can get each applet into a tiny as possible window not even close to doable
using KControl), and find that either or both modules cannot be found. It
doesn't happen frequently enough that I can ever remember how to solve it since
the last instance. Asking on IRC only seems to work if Slavek is there (which
doesn't persist like saved email), which he is not ATM. This a typical result:
# tdecmshell fonts
tdecmshell (tdelibs): WARNING: Could not find module 'kde-fonts'.
1-shouldn't it be looking for a module called "tde-fonts"?
2-what package(s) is/are supposed to contain these modules that they routinely
seem to have a problem being found?
3-why in the current instance is the module xserver found and yet not the module
fonts? Fonts isn't missing when I open kcontrol. Is this a bug specific to
openSUSE or to its 42.2 release?

Hi,
Just upgraded a site to 14.0.4 and my users are having real problems
with Kmail not saving/reading back filters in kmailrc (KMail 1.9.10
Trinity R14.0.4 on Debian Jessie).
I can set a filter within Kmail and it looks fine but when I quit and
restart there are no filters shown in Settings->Configure Filters.
I can export the filters to a file but when I do so, I see the following
on the 'console' (I'm running via ssh -X/xterm, /opt/trinity/bin/kmail):
>TQLayout "unnamed" added to KMail::FilterSelectionDialog "filterselection", which already has a layout
This appears when I click 'Overwrite' after selecting a filename.
The file content looks fine:
>[Filter #0]
>Applicability=0
>AutomaticName=false
>ConfigureShortcut=false
>ConfigureToolbar=false
>Icon=
>StopProcessingHere=true
>accounts-set=
>action-args-0=Banana\tnice
>action-name-0=add header
>actions=1
>apply-on=check-mail,manual-filtering
>contentsA=Weeble
>fieldA=<body>
>funcA=contains
>name=<<body>>: Weeble
>operator=and
>rules=1
but if I try to import this file (within the same kmail session or in a
new one) I again get the "TQLayout "unnamed"..." message when I select
the file and there are no filters shown in the selection popup.
Looking at kmailrc, when I set a filter in Kmail I can see the filter
section has been added (same as the above).
Quit Kmail and Filter #0 is still in kmailrc.
Start kmail and I get this on the 'console':
>#/opt/trinity/bin/kmail
>DCOPClient::attachInternal. Attach failed Could not open network socket
>DCOPClient::attachInternal. Attach failed Could not open network socket
>[tdebuildsycoca] tdebuildsycoca running...
>[dcopserver] DCOP Cleaning up dead connections.

>WeaverThreadLogger: thread (ID: 4) suspended.
Some of that is obviously because I'm running via ssh -X but none of it
obviously applies to kmail.
Go to Settings->Configure Filters and there are no filters shown.
~/.trinity/share/config/kmailrc still contains the [Filter #0] section
but kmail's just not read it in or ignored it.
Try the import thing again... and I get the same result as before.
Ummmmmmmmm..... any ideas?
I'm happy to compile/debug/try test versions etc but I've no idea where
start looking in the kmail source.
TIA.
PS - If it has any bearing, I am using the kiosk settings but I've been
doing that for decades and it's never caused owt like this.

If I counted right, my previous email reported 10 different installations across
4 64-bit PCs, 9 openSUSE, 1 Jessie. All are inextricably dependent on systemd.
The only ones that work right are the 2 oldest openSUSE (42.1), and only with
KDE3, which means nothing I've yet tested with a kernel newer than 4.1.36, or
with 14.0.x TDE, works. Of the 10, I checked for udisks versions on several, and
found both udisks and udisks2 installed on each.
