I certainly am getting an education with building files from source. Eager to see additional results, next I tried building kdebindings. Slackware 12.2 has python 2.5.2 installed. Problem with the build is after configure runs. My build script is modeled after the original 12.2 build script, but due to differences in trinity, might need some new tweaks. If the build log errors about mono are warnings only then fine. If mono is a requirement then like many distros, many Slackers will not bother with trinity if mono is a requirement. :) Here we go again! Attached: Build log Build script Darrell

Building kdebase with svn 1173648 (Success, but ---)

I could not find a solution as you described. I don't pretend to understand classes, but am reading on the web to try to grasp the concept. Please correct me where I went wrong trying to use your search method. The build failed with the following error: kdmpixmap.cpp: In constructor 'KdmPixmap::KdmPixmap(KdmItem*, const QDomNode&, const char*)': kdmpixmap.cpp:70: error: 'QFile' has not been declared I opened kdmpixmap.cpp and selected line 70: KSimpleConfig *config = new KSimpleConfig( TQFile::decodeName( _backgroundCfg ) ); I then searched the entire local trinity svn source tree: grep -r 'TQFile::TQFile' ./ The search found nothing. I again searched the entire local trinity svn source tree: grep -r 'QFile::QFile' ./ Nothing. Thus, I'm unsure exactly what I should have searched. On a whim, I opened tqfile.h and saw another include define for qfile.h. That kind of made sense with respect to the build error regarding QFile. So I added #include <tqfile.h> to kdmpixmap.cpp and rebuilt. Successfully. So kdmpixmap.cpp needs to be patched with #include <tqfile.h>. I'm happy the package finally built. Yet perhaps you could provide me a concrete example by copying and pasting your search commands for this particular failure. Thanks. :) Okay, kdebindings is next!

Building kdebase

Just a note. I tried building kdebase without the --enable-closure configure option. The build failed almost immediately after configure finished and make started. So for now seems I have to keep using that configure option. Log attached. Darrell

Trinity distribution?

Hello, I'm one of the maintainers of kde3 overlay for gentoo, and I am for some time thinking about providing 3.5.11 in our overlay. But what worries me is that I can't find any suitable tarball for our use. Is there really only a single 650MB tarball? We'd like some smaller packages, one for each piece would be great. Patch for kdeadmin

I haven't yet tried to build kdeadmin, but I ran across this patch while walking down the Chakra patches. I figured I had better submit an updated patch or I'll forget. The patch updates the networkconf perl backend for Slackware. See attached. Darrell
