I seem unable to force window sizes to remain set. For example, I resized my konsole window, from the Advanced menu set the window size to "Force." I restarted Trinity and the window size was back to the default.
I exited Trinity and manually edited the kwinrulesrc file using the same data from my KDE3 profile. I started Trinity and again the window size was back to default.
I can change the size of the window, set everything in Advanced, immediately reopen the window, and the size is back to default.
Can anybody confirm this behavior?

I have issues with Kopete if I don't close the app for a first time and just straight reboot. If I close it with the new window size, it then is saved. This would be interesting to fix, as would be the issue where new windows just randomly popup everywhere instead of centered.

In Control Center, Desktop, Window Behavior, Moving tab, is Placement set to Center or Smart?
I have always found the alleged Smart setting to ve ratehr dumb and infuriating. :)

Indeed you were right, forgot about that option. Tim, can we have a way to default this to a saner setting? Or am I running a custom setting without knowing?

Bug report 676 created. :)
FYI to hackers: The default placement seems to be set in /kdebase/kwin/placement.cpp, if anybody wants to create a patch. Please do!
