Yes there was forced by when I clean install of 16.04 to switch from jfs to ext4
did get and email saying they would drop linux. I had a lot of use for it in years past -- none at all in the last 6-7 months or so. So, when I upgrade from Ub 16.04 (Yes. 16!) to UB 24.04 last August, I just abandoned it.
Dropbox worked in UB 24.04 just fine. Much more reliable than say Gdrive.
