I did pick up this error in user.log regarding pulseaudio:
Unable to contact D-Bus:
org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.Spawn.ExecFailed: /usr/bin/dbus-launch
terminated abnormally with the following error: Autolaunch error:
X11 initialization failed.
Is there a log file where I can see more details about why kdeinit
is failing? Thanks - John
I now have only three ideas:
1. Send your .xsession-errors if there's anything we can find.
2. Try to rename your .trinity, if the problem persists with a new
profile.
3. You have installed kgtk-qt3-trinity? Try to uninstall it.

I tried removing kgtk-qt3-trinity first and, lo and behold, it solved
the problem. Why would that be? Thanks - John
This is very odd. Slavek, do we need to blacklist that package on
Debian/Ubuntu at this point?
Thanks!
