Greetings list;
iceweasel seems to have gone to the dogs with all the libssl updates as
they try to sort the latest exploit.
So I am driven to konqueror, which usually works, but when clicking on a
link to follow in kmail, kmail seems to be passing konqueror a link to
the display buffer in /var/tmp, as opposed to just passing the text link
I clicked on.
It does work ok if I slide the mouse highlight the link, switch to the
konqueror screen, and middle click paste it into the address bar of
konqueror.
Am I the only one with this problem? Lisi seems to think so.
Also, and it took a while to find this, the TDE default applications
menu, and the default applications database konqueror uses, seems to be
two separate databases, which was very confusing because I could be
looking at konqueror, clicking on a sublink to try and locate a download
or docs directory on some external site, and konqueror was passing it to
iceweasel! Perhaps this explains why trying to change the "default"
application in KDE, and not having it take effect until a root session,
editing something in /etc/kde was also done. That was a PITA.
Maybe a bug/feature request is in order?
Thanks.
Cheers, Gene Heskett

I recently built i486 and x86_64 - Trinity Desktop - packages for
Slackware 14.1 the packages are compiled as the native desktop, and not
for the /opt/trinity directory.
If your interested you can download the i486, x86_64, or build script,
each as single packages, from my website at this URL
http://www.inpito.org/trinity.php later.
I've noticed that using Trusty Tahr with R14.0.2, I cannot get trinity
to save the power management settings. It does create the directory
"~/.trinity/share/config/tdedisplay/" directory, but it's empty. The
directory can be erased, but Monitor & Display will recreate an empty
directory.
Happens on 2 machines.

I have a box with Debian Wheezy and TDE installed in it. The GPU has
three connectors, one DVI and two HDMI.
I have two monitors connected to it. The diagonal measurement of one
is 49 cm. It has a 1600x900 resolution and is connected to the box by
a DVI cable.
The other is a TV/monitor with a diagonal measurement of 124 cm (49
inches). It is connected to the box by HDMI. The box recognizes its
existence, but the display on it has the same resolution as the
smaller monitor.
It consequently uses only about 40-45% of the screen area, nor is it
centred on the screen. It starts more or less from the upper left
corner and leaves an L shaped unused black space on the bottom and
right sides. The left side does not correspond to the left side of
the screen; a strip on the left side of the display is seen on the
smaller monitor but not on the large one.
Is it possible to create a display resolution larger than 1600x900 for
the large monitor and properly centred on the screen, possibly using
the ‘Monitor and Display’ feature of the TDE Control Centre?

Hi !
I defined two keyboard layouts in fresh installed TDE under Debian
Stable (jessie): one for Finnish and one for Russian keyboard. I did
it via "Trinity Control Center --> Regional and accessibility -->
Keyboard Layout --> Layout". So now I can switch the keyboard by
clicking the ru/fi flag symbol in the panel. How can I define a
keyboard shortcut to switch it? On some old machines with TDE I
somehow managed it, but now I just can't. Whatever I click in the
"Switching Options" or "Xkb Options" --- nothing works, the only way
to switch keyboard is the mouse click.
Please explain, how I can do it just by TDE configuration.
Thanks!

Hi,
I decided to port KDE Plasma 5 ''Breeze'' window borders to TDE.
It uses TDE's IceWM-compatible theme engine.
It is not 100% done, because for now the active and inactive windows are the same color, and for an unknown reasons, TDE does not follow the option to center the text, but it already gives a good preview of it!
If you want to use it on your system, just extract the archive to /opt/trinity/share/apps/twin/(icewmtheme)
Have a great 2016!

Agreed.
I think it's ego thing. Proprietary OS are claiming it as a "super useful
feature" and well, sorry to be rude, but crakmonkeys are buying it as
important. Somewhere along the line, some devels did as well.
I think it has only a little importants and to be honest I haven't noticed any
significant different in boot times over the years. It really depends on the
computer. My 1.8 Duo T60 with 4g of ram boots faster with Ark Linux 2008 than
it does with most other distros. It does boot after with Alexander and Ali's
distros as well as UnityLinux with Enlightenment as the gui.
My 2 cents, as well.
Cheers and happy new year to all (as applicable)
