Thanks Liddell
I'm going to experiment after reading it through a few times.
Cheers,
Kate
Hi,
I am sure it was discussed here in the past, but I could not find it.
I attach the phone to USB and select MTP (file transfer), It shows up as
camera in konqueror and I can not copy files to the device "Creating
folders is not supported with protocol camera.".
kernel is 4.19.149 if it matters. In dmesg it says "Attached scsi generic
sg2 type 0" but after this "Power-on or device reset occurred" and "USB
disconnect, device number 21":

[Wed Oct 28 09:26:42 2020] usb 2-1.3: Manufacturer: Sony
Do you have any idea? I am sure it was working before, but I do not know
when ... might be long time ago as I usually copy from the device to the
PC.
thanks

I have dev options enabled I did not root the phone.
USB Mass storage was removed a long time ago by google. They claim the other
ftps are better. They just removed it because it's easier to track data
transfers on MS and Apple that way.
I had an LG phone with USB MS and it never had a problem. Until it was run
over by a pickup truck. It didn't work well after that. 0_o

+1
I enjoy the stories and ramblings.
I do see the need for an OT ML for this.
That said, ramble on.

I get this msg too. I use Android File Transfer and, sometimes, gmtp.
Konq was better but suddenly stopped working. For now, the above should help.
Kate
I went to burn the iso image, and discovered that somehow it had not been
downloaded completely (using wget). So I searched the mailing list for
Michael, Devuan, etc., but still no luck.
Could you please send the download link once more? Many thanks!
Bill
Hi all,
since there are still occasional posts sent to old mailing lists, I would
like to point out a second time about the approaching deadline of mailing
list migration. At the end of the month, the forwarding of posts back to
the old mailing lists will be stopped. So let me remind those who still
use old mailing list, you should consider subscription for new mailing
list soon!

I missed this thread, but why don't you build a simple debian package?
If it were to be installed in custom directory, I found out that a kind of
isolation is the best approach.
I use /opt/custom and compile/install in /opt/custom/<application>
Then I add to the global or users PATH /opt/custom/<application>/bin
I also found out that creating /opt/custom/<application> and chown to a
users and compiling/installing with that user prevents from broken
installers. The method never failed, although in recent years I have
reduced the applications there to absolute minimum in favor to debian
packages.
