I noticed recently trying to launch VLC to play a file on removable media from Konqueror, the file path passed to VLC is messed up. Should be: file:///media/user/sdb1/filename.mp3 Is: file:///home/user/system%3/media/user/sdb1/filename.mp3 The file association has "/bin/vlc --start-from-file %U", I looked at some other file associations and %U appears to be correct. TDE applications do not have this problem, kedit or kpdf just show "system:/media/user/sdb1/filename.xxx" and I checked, those use %U in file associations. Any ideas? Where is the list of URL shortcuts so I can try things other than %U? how to force TDE colors in LibreOffice and other applications?

I know, I know ... Use qt5ct. And I'm the one who complains when others bring up this same problem under different headings: GTK 3 TQt Engine Styles Using Tqt theme/color scheme in Qt5 applications The problem is not with display of text, etc.; in fact, it would seem that the issue with page metrics differing between Open Office and Libre Office has been resolved, or is not so obvious. So it may be that I can make it work, at least for the present. What I want is to change the GUI of Libre Office to use my TDE system colors and fonts. I could do it with Open Office, but not with Libre Office, which appears to use Gnome defaults. I've tried to go into Trinity Control Center, but changing the settings does nothing to Libre Office. This isn't just a cosmetic annoyance (although it *is* ugly), but because it's really hard on my old eyes to stare for hours on end at a white background with tiny black text. It only takes a few minutes and my eyes start to give me problems, and I can't continue working. It seems that there must be a way to force Libre Office to use my TDE colors, or at least to use a dark theme or high-contrast mode. I tried qt5ct, and nothing happens. I thought maybe I could do it with css or something like that. Any help or suggestions? Bill

Mouse click in konqueror as root

Hello, When I open Konqueror as file manager, as root, in the sub-folders, I have to click the mouse two times. Opening Konqueror as user, I can click one time. Sorry, I'm lazy, if it's possible to make one, why to make two ? :-) Thanks, cheers André

gtk2-tqt-engine causing crashes

I believe that I recall Slavek telling me that this could be resolved by uninstalling something ... gtk3 ...? maybe? In particular, I have Open Office 4.1.11 installed, and I believe that I've tracked down any missing dependencies, but after the splash screen it still crashes. It worked just fine on my desktop machine, which ran Devuan Beowulf 32-bit. This is a newer machine, on which I'm running Devuan Chimaera 64-bit. Please do not recommend that I use Libre Office or some other crap; this is what I need. I did read on the Apache Open Office site that jre and jdk packages were needed, so I already got those. Any suggestions? Bill

Protocol not supported: smb

Hello all, I connect to my school network with openconnect (they use pulse), and then open an smb share with konqueror. This has always worked, but on my new machine it filas with "protocol not supported smb". The only thing that is really different on this install is that, for the moment, I am using lightdm (I wanted to test all MX tools with lightdm first). Can it be that konqueror requires tdm to provide smb. Or what could be missing? Samba is installed. Thierry

Greeter on wrong display

I have a PC with 2560x1440 on DisplayPort, and 1920x1080 on HDMI. The greeter shows up on the small HDMI screen. Is there something in tdmrc or friends that can move it to the DP screen, and preferably, start off TDE sessions by default with the larger/DP screen as the primary? I know how to use xrandr to make the DP primary, but it's not working for the login greeter. It tried it in /etc/trinity/tdm/Xsetup, but it's apparently ignored or otherwise ineffective there. -- Evolution as taught in public schools is, like religion, based on faith, not based on science. Trinity on HD+ display

I know we allready has this in some way. I now have a new-old (mean second hand) Lenovo X1 Tablet (because I need the touchscreen). Installing MX-Linux " TDE was quite easy and, so far, everything runs fine (I have not tried sleep/hibernate yet). The machine has a (nice) display with a 3000x2000 resolution. Xfce takes care of this with a gtk setting that lets "multiply" everything by two. So far I have "adapted" TDE by choosing bigger icons. I seem to remeber there was some other place where I could also make things bigger - I'll find it. Just wanted to know if anyone with experience with such a display has developped a "good" way to scale Trinity. Thierry

the mouse on the extreme right and left

Hello, when I approach the mouse arrow on the extreme right and left in a open window (konqueror, konsole...), the window disappears for another window opened, it's unpleasant in the long run. Maybe, the border of the window has a space with the screen, how to put it at zero ? The automatic settings of the screen doesn't solve the problem. Cheers, André

I'M BAAAACK!

I am back, and I am wanting to give TDE another shot. But this time, I am coming to you from Fedora 35! I see there's a way to install TDE in Fedora 35 So what I will prob do is a Fedora XFCE spin install And then do... Install the minimalistic Trinity Desktop Environment: dnf install trinity-tdebase And then all of the programs that I use on a daily basis, install as flatpaks to where I can use some newer, up to date apps. And of course make THUNAR my file manager... Konq is just bleh.... Does all of this sound ok? Or is there anything that you would tweak? Thanks, Chris

Konqueror files search bar

Hello again, Konqueror with Buster Debian 10, had a files search bar above, on the right, just next to the address bar. (filter to see some files not all). This bar, very useful, has disappeared on Bullseye Debian 11. I don't see in Konqueror configuration, how to put it again... Happy sunday, André
