So this is interesting I decided I wanted to try the bull in a china shop
approach. I went into /opt/trinity/bin and moved Konqueror to Konqueror.old
and created a sym link to pcman there instead. Now if I click on the
default Konqueror icon on the task bar it opens pcman as it should but if I
click any short cut on the desktop or elsewhere Konqueror still opens which
you would think at best I would get an error saying it can't do what I ask.
So where is it still finding Konqueror?

possible to change it from the command prompt? It is my only real gripe
with TDE while I loved Konq in it's day other File managers have passed it
by in features.

Hi,
You screenshot is from KDE4, not KDE3, so it would be good to
double-check if that option was available in KDE3 too.
I fully agree with you that we should have that option.

In older versions of KDE in the default aplications section of Kcontrol
there used to be a way to change the file manager see picture in link
below. I don't see that anymore. I would like to change from Konqueror to
Pcmanfm as my default. Is there a way to set that from the command line or
a way to add back the file manager selection? I find that PCmanfm can be
set to see many more types of thumbnails than Konqueror can and I find
that very helpful.
