This is on David Hare's Exe Debian Wheezy.
The Add Printer Wizard stalls on the window that lists all the brands
& models. The window opens, but never populates with the lists, no
matter how long it sits. Tried on 2 different computers with the
same result. Any ideas? Is there another way to add a printer? I
don't know how else to do it, except maybe from XFCE.
I use my web browser, enter 'localhost:631' in the address bar, This is
an interface to cups, which is what tdeprint or kdeprint uses.
Does not answer why the Add Printer Wizard is not working. I used to
use the kdeprint stuff, worked well years ago. Switched
to 'localhost:631' for some reason long ago, no issues.
I never managed to get the TDE print stuff working by whatever method I
installed it. Wheezy or Squeeze.. 'localhost:631' in a browser, the
method provided by CUPS itself, is the proper way to configure the print
system in Debian and is DE independent.
IMO there is not much point in the TDE stuff existing at all (especially
if it doesn't work properly)
