Thirded. I thought I had put this to rest when I said that TDE would not hard-depend on systemd. That doesn't mean that we won't add systemd support at some point (IIRC there is a bug report open on this), it just means that your friendly packagers can decide whether to switch it on or leave it off, just the same as support for various other system components such as HAL, udev, upower, etc. :-)
