If your system is high DPI (at least 106, preferably 120 or more), open
http://fm.no-ip.com/Auth/dpi-screen-window.html in Gecko, Opera, Konq3, Konq4
& Chromium (and IE and Safari if you have Windows available), and compare
them all. Average DPI users wouldn't likely notice, but all the newest
browsers lock a 12pt/16px ratio. Older keep pt proportionate to DPI,
preventing pt on screen to be the same size as pt printed (no WYSIWYG).
Webkit offers no workaround for those who need pt to be life sized, while
Konq3 does it automatically (same as most Linux browsers used to do), and
Gecko provides it by option.
This fixed pt/px ratio was adopted for the primary benefit of inept web page
designers, to keep them from needing to fix their broken designs so they
won't look inept loaded in browsers running outside 96 DPI environments.
