Plasma 5 has removed much of the KDE4 nonsense.
What "nonsense"?
Most of the framework has
been reworked to be much better than the KDE4 equivalent. It is also more
responsive, and starts faster.
What, on a 5 month old 8 core machine with 32G RAM?
TDE will really have to do something to stay in
the race.
K5 is a slug on machines that TDE is happy on, one core, 1G RAM or 2 cores
and 2-4G RAM.
And BTW, Breeze is the worst KDE theme in my recollection going back over a
decade. The current default TDE theme is as close to perfect as I could
hope for.
Thank you, Felix. I don't want TDE to compete with KDE. I like TDE _because_
it is not like KDE and its ilk. If you don't like what TDE looks like,
Alexandre, as you see you can easily change it. That is its greatest
strength. It lets you choose.
As for start-up speed, that would not be _my_ choice for the focus of our
developers' time with so few of them there. It isn't all that fast, but nor
is it slow.
