Exactly, ifconfig is in the net-tools package. Just the difference is that
net-tools is no longer installed as the essential package. Must be
installed manually.

I haven't gotten TDE on it, and since I found a 8.1 netinstall CD I'd
kept, I'm going to un-do the 9 install entirely.
I was disgusted when "# ifconfig" returned "command not found".
