Thank you for the info! Building and compiling software is still not at my reach...
The provided binary packages are quite old.
I think that I'll try to install TDE on Ubuntu-based Puppy Linux instead. Packages are
already built and I have a better understanding of deb package installation than
Slackware...

It is supposed to be Slackware version 14 compatible.
I have seen that there is a TDE build for Slackware with
instruction here, but it seems to be outdated.

I know TDE builds and runs on Slackware 14 because Darrell does that.
Here you should be able to find some updated info about building TDE on Slackware,
possibly some binary packages too.
