I use KDE 4 on newer
hardware & TDE on older hardware, and love them both.
same here :)
in fact, kde4 (> 4.9.4) has now reached a state, where even akonadified
kde-pim
is usable (though still sluggish and somewhat unstable).
plus, it has lots of matured apps, like blogilo, digikam etc. and
konqueror as
a web browser ist really usable (konqueror from TDE is not).
so, for modern hardware, I now recommend kde4.
on older hardware, however, kde4 is a no-go, while TDE still runs fine.
just use another browser (chromium, e.g.)

While KDE4 has definitely improved, and in fact several components are now
quite usable and sometimes even better than their TDE counterparts, the
overall usability of the KDE workspace still seems suboptimal to me.
I am currently looking into methods of using the improved KDE4 components
to enhance portions of TDE (e.g. Konqueror) while keeping the same
stability and usability we currently have. Stay tuned. :-)
