Hi,
The Konqueror preset for the View Mode is "Icon View", which IMHO is the worst possible, as it gives no information at all except for the file type. So I always have to change this to "Detailled List View", for every tab and every new window. That is very tiresome, it keeps haunting me for years now. There surely must be a way to configure this once and for all? Unfortunately I have not found the proper config file so far. Any hints?

Depending from where you launch konqueror you can make your custom profile the default. For example, I have a konqueror button in taskbar which contains the following command line in the settings:
kfmclient openProfile MyCustomProfile
You could also do:
konqueror --profile MyCustomProfile
To list all available profiles:
konqueror --profiles
These commands work in shell and TDE run-command-dialog (Alt+F2).
You can also create a new entry in TDE menu via kmenuedit which starts konqueror with your preferred profile and assign a key combination to it.
There are probably more ways to achieve what you want.

Hi Michael,
you can go to Trinity Control Center => TDE Components => File Associations and from list of Known Types select inode / directory. Then you can adjust Services Preference Order on Embedding tab.

You'll also have to change Known Types "media" entries for things like USB drives to default to your desired view.

When konqueror --profile filemanagment opens, set the view-profile you want, e.g. detailed list view, (tree view is details + expandable and is nice too)
Once set, simply:
Settings -> Save View Profile "File Managment"
and konqueror will restore your choice when opened.
