Hi
I have successfully installed trinity/Ubuntu 14.04 (from the live CD) on my old X60s and X200s. Now I got a brandnew X1 Carbon
I ran the 14.04 live CD, but trinity did not find the
- sound card
- wireless card (o claims it is desactivaded)
- wired card
ifconfig does not show any of these cards.
Lspci however shows: ,---- | | 00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Sky Lake Host Bridge/DRAM Registers (rev 08) | 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Sky Lake Integrated Graphics (rev 07) | 00:08.0 System peripheral: Intel Corporation Sky Lake Gaussian Mixture Model | 00:13.0 Non-VGA unclassified device: Intel Corporation Device 9d35 (rev 21) | 00:14.0 USB controller: Intel Corporation Device 9d2f (rev 21) | 00:14.2 Signal processing controller: Intel Corporation Device 9d31 (rev 21) | 00:16.0 Communication controller: Intel Corporation Device 9d3a (rev 21) | 00:17.0 SATA controller: Intel Corporation Device 9d03 (rev 21) | 00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation Device 9d10 (rev f1) | 00:1c.2 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation Device 9d12 (rev f1) | 00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation Device 9d48 (rev 21) | 00:1f.2 Memory controller: Intel Corporation Device 9d21 (rev 21) | 00:1f.3 Audio device: Intel Corporation Device 9d70 (rev 21) | 00:1f.4 SMBus: Intel Corporation Device 9d23 (rev 21) | 00:1f.6 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation Ethernet Connection I219-V (rev 21) | 02:00.0 Unassigned class [ff00]: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. Whats about Trinity live cd for Ubuntu 16? Any schedule? I know I can install first Ubuntu 16 and then trinity, the live CD makes everything easier though.
Thanks and regards

although it is not up-to-date, could be useful:
http://mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org/trinity/cdimages/thirdparty/ubuntu/R14....

Indeed it is! Thanks. That live version found the sound and all netcards.
However
- the iso is just 800 mega compared to 1.2 Giga of vanilla ubuntu. Indeed the installer failed. So if that gets official, I think that should be fixed.
- So I will now install Ubuntu 16. First and then trinity.
- one of my favorite applications is systemsetting (which still runs in Ubuntu 14) that includes a MaxOS type of control center. That seems to be absent in 16. Anybody has an idea??
Thanks

Smaller size has a simple explanation: This LiveCD contains minimal Ubuntu system and only Trinity software - see the trinity-livecd package
http://mirror.git.trinitydesktop.org/cgit/tde-packaging/tree/ubuntu/maverick...
Please, do you have any more detailed information on how the installation failed? In any case, you are right, iso could be upgraded to the current version of Ubuntu 16.04.x.

The tde-systemsettings-trinity package seems to be in place for Ubuntu 16.04 - just install it :)

- When I use: try out Ubuntu and then press the install button, nothing happens.
- when I select install ubuntu then after a while the following message pops up:
The installer encountered an unrecoverable error. A desktop session will now be run so that you may investigate the problem or try installing again
But then I am left with possibility one.

It's strange - I've tried the same thing in the virtual machine now, and in both cases the installer duly started (64bit).
Can you run on the LiveCD from the console: ubiquity gtk_ui ...if there will be something interesting about it.
Thank you

I tried it out today:
- I downloaded a fresh iso from the site you sent me.
- I burnt it to a different new usb stick
- I booted, Trinity came up, but when I hit the installation button or the used ubiquity gtk_ui *nothing* happened
- I rebooted but his time chose the option, install Ubuntu, the same error message appeared than the last time.
- what shall I do?
I have installed successfully Ubuntu 16 so I could follow that path. I will wait a bit for your answer, but I need a 64bit version of Ubuntu/Trinity soon, so if that is not going to work out in the next hours then I will proceed as indicated.
