Hi. I'm using Quark OS 20.04 (based on Kubuntu 20.04), and it's working very well. Quark OS comes with KDE Plasma by default, but it is possible to install Trinity after installation and use both environments.
The problem is that I didn't find in the Trinity Control Center the place to disable effects and animations. Thanks!
Hello,
Isn't there the Styles module in "Appearance & Themes"? Animations can be disabled from there, or with TDEPersonalizer on first startup.

Hello Philippe! Thanks for the answer. I will check the module "Appearance & Themes" you indicated. Greetings!

In particular, the Effects tab in Appearance & Themes => Style, and Desktop => Window Behavior.

Hi Philippe. KPersonaliser did not open on first launch of Trinity. Is there a way to open KPersonaliser from the terminal? Which command?
Hi Lynx,
If I remember correctly (I'm away from PC right now) the command should be "kpersonalizer". Alternatively you can find it somewhere in the TDE menu.

You are sure it is installed, aren't you? Your distribution might package it separately from tdebase, e.g. kpersonalizer-trinity

This is my question if the packages were installed. I will try to open Control Center and KPersonaliser by commands.

On my system it is in TDE menu -> Settings -> kpersonalizer.
If it is not there then you probably need to install it. That's
$ apt-get install kpersonalizer-trinity
on a Debian-based system (as root).

The pertinent TDE application, whatever it's called in kMenu, likely has one of the icons here attached, depending on your choice of icon theme.

You could also turn off (or on) effects in TDE Control Center -> Appearance -> Style -> Effects.
Cheers, Stefan
Thank you for the informations. I don't think TDE Control Center was installed either, when clicking on Control Center from the menu opens Konqueror. What command to install TDE Control Center?
The command you are looking for is:
``` # apt-get install kcontrol-trinity ```
If I can ask, is this your first time installing TDE? When you installed it, did you use the tde-trinity metapackage? That installs the whole thing, including the things you seem to be missing. It's fine to pick & choose just what you want and leave out what you don't want, but you'd save yourself these problems of missing major parts if you install the whole thing, at least the first time.
So, at this point, I'd suggest you consider installing tde-trinity to see how the whole thing is supposed to work. That will get you everything you're missing now. Then, if you like, uninstall one thing, or group of things, at a time until you have what you want.
Hi Dan. In this case I am using Trinity Desktop on the distribution Quark OS 20.04, which is based on Kubuntu 20.04.
I think Control Center is not installed, when I click on Control Center in the menu open Konquerror. How do I install the latest Control Center? I have version TDE R14.0.11, thanks again.
In Debian it seems to be the package kcontrol-trinity
No, it is in package kpersonalizer-trinity:
$ dpkg -S kpersonalizer kpersonalizer-trinity: /usr/share/doc/kpersonalizer-trinity/NEWS.Debian.gz kpersonalizer-trinity: /usr/share/menu/kpersonalizer-trinity kpersonalizer-trinity: /opt/trinity/share/apps/kpersonalizer/pics/step3.png kpersonalizer-trinity: /opt/trinity/share/apps/kpersonalizer/pics/step5.png tde-i18n-ru-trinity: /opt/trinity/share/locale/ru/LC_MESSAGES/kpersonalizer.mo kpersonalizer-trinity: /opt/trinity/share/pixmaps/kpersonalizer-16.xpm kpersonalizer-trinity: /opt/trinity/share/apps/kpersonalizer kpersonalizer-trinity: /opt/trinity/bin/kpersonalizer tdeartwork-theme-icon-trinity: /opt/trinity/share/icons/kdeclassic/16x16/apps/kpersonalizer.png kpersonalizer-trinity: /opt/trinity/share/apps/kpersonalizer/pics/step1.png kpersonalizer-trinity: /opt/trinity/share/applnk/System/kpersonalizer.desktop tdeartwork-theme-icon-trinity: /opt/trinity/share/icons/kdeclassic/32x32/apps/kpersonalizer.png kpersonalizer-trinity: /usr/share/doc/kpersonalizer-trinity/changelog.Debian.gz kpersonalizer-trinity: /opt/trinity/share/applications/tde/kpersonalizer.desktop kpersonalizer-trinity: /opt/trinity/share/apps/kpersonalizer/pics kpersonalizer-trinity: /opt/trinity/share/apps/kpersonalizer/pics/step4.png tde-i18n-de-trinity: /opt/trinity/share/locale/de/LC_MESSAGES/kpersonalizer.mo kpersonalizer-trinity: /usr/share/man/man1/kpersonalizer-trinity.1.gz kpersonalizer-trinity: /opt/trinity/share/icons/crystalsvg/16x16/apps/kpersonalizer.png kpersonalizer-trinity: /usr/share/doc/kpersonalizer-trinity/copyright kpersonalizer-trinity: /opt/trinity/share/apps/kpersonalizer/pics/step2.png kpersonalizer-trinity: /opt/trinity/share/icons/crystalsvg/32x32/apps/kpersonalizer.png tde-i18n-engb-trinity: /opt/trinity/share/locale/en_GB/LC_MESSAGES/kpersonalizer.mo kpersonalizer-trinity: /usr/share/doc/kpersonalizer-trinity kpersonalizer-trinity: /opt/trinity/share/pixmaps/kpersonalizer.xpm
On Debian-derived systems this applies: The command dpkg with option "-S" searches the database of all installed packages for files that contain the string "kpersonalizer" and the first field of every output line names the package wherein the pathname of files containing the string searched for has been found.
Which is what I was answering to :) But I fear the threads about TCC and KPersonaliser got mixed. No problem :)
Oh, well, I got that mixed up I think! :-/
I didn't read what Lynx wrote 'cause kmail folded the citations of deeper levels away.
If all else fails, you can look in ~/.trinity/share/config/kdeglobals for these settings:
EffectAnimateCombo EffectAnimateMenu EffectAnimateTooltip EffectFadeMenu EffectFadeTooltip EffectNoTooltip EffectsEnabled
and set them to false to get rid of some of the default effects.
Hello E. Liddell. Thanks for the important tips.
I wanted to thank everyone for the help and tips. I have an old computer and need the animations and effects disabled to have good income. Greetings!
