I haven't an answer for you except that if you were trying to provide a point - . - then you succeeded, at least on this end. Were there any commas meant to be in your message?
I'm also a bit puzzled, i indeed see a point "." And the comma after "Kmail," Maybe there's some problem with the fonts? Try other fonts.....

Same here. Could indeed be a font issue. Alternatively, does your locale use the comma as a decimal separator? If it does, could KMail be overcorrecting?

Usually pc104 keyboard (us) is selected per default - at least according my experience and it never was an issue with any symbol. I recently created a new user and it worked straight forward.

Same problem, but on my another desktop PC, this one, point (.) and comma (,) = OK. with the exactly same configuration of my laptop, Debian + TDE.
I will see tomorrow on my laptop, and will tell you, sorry, it's late now to explore.
