Maybe there's some problem with the fonts?
Try other fonts.....

Usually pc104 keyboard (us) is selected per default - at least according my
experience and it never was an issue with any symbol. I recently created a
new user and it worked straight forward.

Same problem,
but on my another desktop PC, this one, point (.) and comma (,) = OK.
with the exactly same configuration of my laptop, Debian + TDE.
I will see tomorrow on my laptop, and will tell you,
sorry, it's late now to explore.
