I am probably not the best person to say this in terms of anyone listening, but perhaps the best person in view of being the one who was complaining.
TDE is in urgent need of $1000.00 to keep the master server running. Its CPU is failing/has failed. I don't know the details, but Tim would no doubt supply them. If 20 people each gave £50 etc., but we all know that they won't.
I can't say "it is just the cost of $WHATEVER" because i don't know US prices. For me it is the train ticket to London that I didn't have to buy at the end of September because the hospital cancelled the appointment.
Come on! What have you not had to pay for/could easily forego? Do you really need two cups of coffee every morning, or a tub of icecream for lunch every day?? Perhaps now is the time to give up cigarettes? ;-)
TDE can't run without servers.
Of course, if someone has a top-notch server he or she is dying to donate, I am sure that Tim wouldn't say no. ;-)

I've sent a small donation to help the cause. Hopefully others will do as well!

Unfortunately, the donate button on Tims web site does nothing but clear itself from view. I expected it to link to paypal. Iceweasel, or site problem?

Doesn't matter if that link works or not. Just goto your own Paypal account with Tim's email address. He'll get whatever amount you put there. AFAICT, the TDE project itself has no bank or Paypal account.

Tinothy seems to have one, however. Ay least, one can donate by clicking the button.

I guess iceweasel 38.3.0 is borked then.
Thanks Lisi.

Just in case it was an old PayPal button glitch I've refreshed the button from the PayPal site. I also put a few other changes into effect for a better user experience on that page, including updating the donation text to the correct string. ;-)
If anyone who was planning to donate hasn't yet, please let me know how it works!

There was a Paypal glitch, although browser glitches may not have improved matters. Originally, I couldn't see the donation link at all with my normal browser settings--I had to use an alternative browser profile to make my donation. Now the link shows up as expected, so that's a measurable improvement.
I suspect it may have been a case of old Paypal code + Javascript-restrictive settings (or possibly certain versions of the Gecko layout engine) = problem.

I donated via the Paypal button on the web site and it worked. Can't remember the browser I have used but I assume it was Firefox Version 26.

That's odd. The button is generated via code provided by PayPal, so I'd expect it to work. Let me see if there is an update available.
