Hi all,
I would like to remind you that R14.0.8 is planned for the end of April. There will not be significant changes, some new cmake conversions, cleaning, many minor fixes and also a lot of work on translations.
If you want to contribute, now is a good time to test and also to work on translations. Main packages freeze is scheduled for April 10, applications should freeze on April 17 and final freeze on April 24.
I hope everything goes well. Thank you for your support and help.
Cheers
Slávek, a quick question:
There will not be significant changes, some new cmake conversions, cleaning, many minor fixes and also a lot of work on translations.
I'd like to contribute to translations through TDE Weblate but I often find it difficult to locate the source of a missing translations. For example:
1. In TDEPowersave -> General settings -> Other -> Configure Notifications, a lot of Polish translations for the notifications are missing, but these are nowhere to be found in tdepowersave strings [1].
2. In Konquerror settings there's a new tab called "User Interface", again untranslated in Polish, but I can't locate it in konqueror translations.
3. When mounting an encrypted drive the dialog box is untranslated and I have no idea where to even look for it.
Is there a general method for locating such missing translations?
Janek

Hi Janek,
thank you for your interest in translations! I'll try to find out the information about the strings you mention.

I'd like to contribute to translations through TDE Weblate but I often find it difficult to locate the source of a missing translations. For example:
- In TDEPowersave -> General settings -> Other -> Configure
Notifications, a lot of Polish translations for the notifications are missing, but these are nowhere to be found in tdepowersave strings [1].
The situation here is simple: Notification events, including their translations, are part of the eventsrc file, not part of the program. The eventsrc file is a file that is "desktop style" - see
https://mirror.git.trinitydesktop.org/gitea/TDE/tdepowersave/src/branch/mast...
Integrating desktop style files into TDE Weblate is the second level of integration because it required preparation on the side of building programs. And right now, with the release of R14.0.8, we are launching this second level of integration! Several desktop style files are already integrated into TDE Weblate. However, after the release of R14.0.8 we will gradually add other desktop style files.
So stay tuned!
- In Konquerror settings there's a new tab called "User Interface",
again untranslated in Polish, but I can't locate it in konqueror translations.
If you mean the title of the User Interface tab, this is the same case as the previous one with TDEPowersave - see
https://mirror.git.trinitydesktop.org/gitea/TDE/tdebase/src/branch/master/kc...
If you mean the items on this tab, these are part of the TDE Weblate component tdebase / kcmkonqhtml - see
https://mirror.git.trinitydesktop.org/weblate/projects/tdebase/kcmkonqhtml/p...
- When mounting an encrypted drive the dialog box is untranslated and
I have no idea where to even look for it.
Unfortunately I'm not sure what the dialog box is.
Is there a general method for locating such missing translations?
You can use the source string search in TDE Weblate. When searching, you can remember that the source string may contain a '&' character that serves as a wildcard for a shortcut key.
If the source string is not found, it is possible that it is part of a desktop style file that is not yet integrated into TDE Weblate. In such cases, it's good to let someone know about it - for example, in ML, like you did. Or at IRC, where Chris is often available to help.

Hi Slávek, thanks for a prompt reply.

I have no idea where to even look for it.

See attached file.
You can use the source string search in TDE Weblate.
This doesn't work very well for common strings like "User interface" - these return tens or hundreads of results.
Or at IRC, where Chris is often available to help.
Wasn't aware there's an IRC channel. What server and what channel name?

You can use the usual IRC servers and room #trinity-desktop
