Like several others on the list, I’ve pretty much always had KMail crash the first time after launch (that I tried to use the ‘Search:’ box). I needed to search on something today and it crashed 4 times in a row, *argh!* I type fairly fast, ~75 wpm, so on a lark, the fifth time I very, very slowly typed one letter at a time and it didn’t crash. *yeah!*
Hopefully this works for others...

from what I've observed reporting problems from others, there seems to be something wrong if full text indexing is enabled - see Enable full text indexing in settings.
