So, I deleted all templates in kmailrc, leaving only 

[GlobalTemplates]

template"%-\nOn %ODATEEN %OTIMELONGEN %OFROMNAME wrote:

And now it works. I had copied kmailrc from a previous install (KDE3), 
probably it came from there (I found a group of templates named "[Templates 
#IDENTITY_somenumber]", don't know where they came from.
