I've never set this, the default is empty (kdewallet.kwl VS Peter.kwl?).

Could that be the reason of not triggering the wallet? I don't use konqueror nor kmail but firefox and ClawsMail. Both are no TDE-apps. And scratching my head, I cannot think of any other TDE-app I use, that/who contacts the outside world and requires a password.

It is not only konqueror, but any TDE app that requires repetitive password authentication - kmail, kopete etc.
