Hi, I installed LibreOffice, but the desktop integration package
libreoffice3.3-debian-menus_3.3-6_all.deb
does not work properly wit Trinity, e. g. Open a document does not work. Is that a Trinity problem?

Probably not. I can think of two *possible* explainations for this: 1. They don't include a Trinity compatible menu entry, or 2. It (the installation path in the package) isn't pointing to the Triniy install prefix.

We believe it is a trinity problem. Can you please file a bug report at the Trinity website? We will investigate it further. Please make sure to include your Trinity version, your current package list, and such.

Just a data point: I just installed openoffice 3.3 in Trinity and all the menu integration we right into 'Office' right where it should be. OO opens and works fine. So it must be a libre/trinity issue because I can't find the same oracle/trinity issue :)
Hi David,
Just a data point: I just installed openoffice 3.3
libreoffice is NOT openoffice!

Hi,
Have you filed a bug yet? If so, please give us the link so that anyone else with this or related problems can add onto it and we may be able to come to a working conclusion.

Sorry Viele,
I know... I remember freaking out when the fork was announced somewhere around Sept. 28th. I didn't know if one had any influence on the behavior of the other from a Trinity standpoint, so I just thought I'd drop a note in case it might help.
Good luck with the issue.

No, but it started out as being openoffice -- they just took the openoffice code and forked off. So one could say that they are indirectly openoffice, but NOT directly openoffice. I hope I'm not confusing anyone...

We believe it is a trinity problem.
I have exactly the same problem on my desktop machine: Debian Lenny, KDE 3.5.10.
So it isn't only Trinity - tho' it may be KDE3+relatives related.

I've tried LibreOffice on Debian Squeeze and Trinity: integration _does_ work, but LO crashes on me as soon as I try to save a document.
I did not try LO on other platforms, but I think it may be a LO problem. Will have to test with Gnome and KDE 4 only... But for now keep oracle/OO for work!

I installed libre-office on lenny, and now with squeeze I just opened/saved a doc. LO was in the OFFICE menus where it was installed alongside OO. LibreOffice 3.3.0 OOO330m19 (Build:6) tag libreoffice-3.3.0.4
Debian Squeeze+KDE-trinity
The problem isn't KDE at all its the brand of kde. The kde integration is really a major distro's version only (SuSe, Mandrake etc). I was one of the testers of LO until I brought up both Trinity and Unity project (basically suggesting there were other distros and GUI other than ubuntu and gnome), after which I endured a 3 week flame fest.
I've test LO of many distros using kde3 and 4 both no integration. We should look at how Ark did its integration, as it was perfect (still works for me). Screenshot of OOo using kde's open save UI included.
I've also done a comparison between LO and OOo, and found that OOo is far better.
