Hi, It's me again.
Some recent Trinity update seems to have stripped my ability to go "split screen" with konqueror. When I click on [View] -- then "View Mode" , I get a dropdown with ONLY
TDEHTML Embedded Advanced Text Editor
I have NO IDEA how long ago I last used the split screen option in konqueror --- maybe 1-2 weeks ago.
The keyboard shortcuts CTL-SHIFT-L and CTL-SHIFT-T _do_ work.

Is it just me -- my system? Or, do I have some sort of bit rot that would also explain my earlier "Lost ability to sftp via konqueror"?

What happens when you click on the "Window" menu? Do you see a couple of "Split view" options at the top? That's where they've always been on my system.

Yikes! Yes, the split-screen options are there. I COULD SWEAR I've always found them under [View].

I added mine to the Extra Toolbar, which I keep separate from the rest, along with the associated Close button and a couple of other tools.

Ah, don't be so hard on yourself! In Konqueror: R14.0.4, the "Split view" sub-menu is under the 'View' menu.

Did you try a full reinstall of Konqueror [tdio(sp)?, ???] ?
$ apt install --reinstall {package name}
That's fixed packages for me in the past (as well as usually fixing 'kept back' packages).

I am currently on the machine with TDE 3.5.13.x and there is no Split in the View menu. Only in Window menu :)

I've always just right clicked the status bar on all the versions of Konqueror to get the 'split' menu
Give that a try.

Just adding my 2 cents here.
I just tried this (clicking on status bar), and get various ways of splitting screen, all of which work fine without a hitch. I practically never use this feature, but, for what it's worth, there it is.
By the way, I'm running Devuan Jessie with Trinity R14.0.6.

In 3.5.x Split is in the Window menu, in R14.x Split is in the Window menu. It is not surprising to me that it is not mentioned in any changelog - in commit history :)

OK. I apologize for starting this whole mess! :-)
I have re-programmed my brain to use [Window] , and I have put the additional icon on the Tool Bar (Thanks, Leslie(?)) , and I have learned to right click on the Status Bar (Thanks, Lou).
I'll try not to disturb the group again for awhile. :-)
