Hi, It's me again.
Some recent Trinity update seems to have stripped my ability to
go "split screen" with konqueror. When I click on [View] -- then
"View Mode" , I get a dropdown with ONLY

I have NO IDEA how long ago I last used the split screen option
in konqueror --- maybe 1-2 weeks ago.
The keyboard shortcuts CTL-SHIFT-L and CTL-SHIFT-T _do_ work.

I COULD SWEAR I've always found them under [View].
Well, As usual I never pass up a chance to embarrass myself in public.

would also explain my earlier "Lost ability to sftp via konqueror"?
Did you try a full reinstall of Konqueror [tdio(sp)?, ???] ?
$ apt install --reinstall {package name}
That's fixed packages for me in the past (as well as usually fixing 'kept
back' packages).

PS: Here, I always forget what this command is, so I saved it to my cheat
sheet file...
$ dpkg -S /opt/trinity/bin/konqueror

I've always just right clicked the status bar on all the versions of Konqueror
to get the 'split' menu
Give that a try.

Just adding my 2 cents here.
I just tried this (clicking on status bar), and get various ways of splitting
screen, all of which work fine without a hitch. I practically never use this
feature, but, for what it's worth, there it is.
By the way, I'm running Devuan Jessie with Trinity R14.0.6.

The original intent was 'split' was something you do with a 'window',
not something that happens within a 'view'.
