Hi to all,
I know that there are still many users who use TDE 3.5.13.x series. Please, you use official 3.5.13.2 or my older PPA 'axis'?
For those who use PPA 'axis': You've probably noticed that some time ago there were several updates. I would therefore ask you whether you can change the address in the sources.list from original ppa.quickbuild.pearsoncomputing.net to mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org. Benefits will be on both sides. Because on mirror.ppa are packages for most of distributions in the local cache, you'll have faster downloads. And thanks to this will be less load of line to the master server.
Cheers

Very good! But, remind me: How do I get and set the public key?
Thank you! Jonesy

GPG key for PPA 'axis' is unchanged. If you need to install this key, you can use:
apt-key adv --keyserver keyring.quickbuild.pearsoncomputing.net --recv-key 00A58606

I still use 3.5.13.2. However, I have not added anything from Trinity repos in a long time because a Debian developer screwed up apt-get such that it will remove X and Trinity and a lot else if I try to install anything at all. So my solution is to build up the OS as I want it in the beginning and then never change it again.
My next upgrade will hopefully be the newest/current EXE. But right now I'm still using two year old OS's.

I don't know for sid, but I had a similar problem with Wheezy (at the time stable) because I had had to add repros from unstable for some libraries.
For a while I no more updated because that would remove Trinity. Removing these unstable repositories I could again update without problem.
So he may have a mix of version repositories that create the problem.

Wheezy and Jessie/testing 7.2.. Have same prob with Mint 15 and verious 2 year old Ubuntus.
It's not the fault of Trinity devs at all that I can tell. Yes, I do mess with repos and possibly make mistakes that way.
It's a "feature" of later Wheezy versions of apt-get. Somebody decided that Debian needed to be "cleaned up" every time you install something, and based on researching this on Debian messageboards, the majority insist on believing this is a good idea. Tough luck for me I guess.
So, for example, if I try to upgrade my totally obsolete Iceweasel or Firefox, apt-get will insist on removing Trinity, Xorg and countless other vitally important items. In fact, I can't install or upgrade anything now.

If you mix repositories, never use apt-get. run aptitude and look what exactly causes this, because its most likely some manually installed package from 3-rd party/unstable that has higher priority in apt-get conflict resolution logic than auto installed packages (including trinity and Xorg). Look for a broken pacakges in aptitude and find a root source for conflict, than uninstall/hold it.

Package kdesktop na 3.5.13.2 has a strict dependency on a specific version of binutils. When mixing distribution versions can easily occur attempt to upgrade binutils and then the problem is obvious.

So Chris could probably just pin binutils. It seems a pity to slag off Debian developers and apt-get because he likes to run a mixed system that doesn't felicitously mix. I always use aptitude anyway, except if I am explicitly told not for an upgrade. It is so nice and chatty!

You might be running into systemd changes. These are large enough that I have not tried to do this kind of mixing with Wheezy. Have you tried looking at backports for new versions of those programs?
https://wiki.debian.org/Backports http://backports.debian.org/Instructions/
I can report that Wheezy, as it is, works wonderfully with the TDE 3.5 branch. The only thing I've added to my production laptop is TDE and E16, documented here,
http://50.80.140.55/photo_album/chron/desktop/trinity16.html
I have been avoiding Jessie and have not yet tried with Stretch yet.

Agreed. And also with the R14 branch. (3 computers on 3.5.13.2, 2 on R14.) (1 14+Jessie. I persevere.) (Not all mine - some I just administer.)

Hi!
Or you might want to jump ships and upgrade to devuan - which by the way works flawless with these repositories added:
deb http://packages.devuan.org/merged jessie main contrib non-free deb http://exegnulinux.net/nosystemd jessie main deb http://angband.pl/debian/ nosystemd main
even CUPS without systemd ... and no chance to trash your (U)EFI hardware ( https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=UEFI-rm-root-directo... ) :-)

I had understood that we should change to the official 3.5.13.2 now that development on 13.2 has stopped. Is that wrong? Should I change to mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org?

Very good question :)
I start from the back: mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org is useful in any case - for official R14, official 3.5.13.x as well as preliminary 3.5.13.x == my older PPA 'axis'.
And now back to the beginning of the question: Since not escape my attention that many users still use 3.5.13.x series, with regard to security patches and several other useful patches, I decided to prepare one more version of the series 3.5.13.x! At this moment there is no schedule - you can assume that it will take several months. However, several updates are already available. And precisely for this purpose is used again PPA 'axis'.
Incidentally, detailed changelog is continuously updated in the wiki: https://wiki.trinitydesktop.org/Changelog_For_3.5.13.3
The fact remains restrictions supported versions of the distributions. Distributions that do not include HAL, are no longer supported. And in any case, preparation 3.5.13.3 has a lower priority than the preparation R14.0.3.
By the way, the detailed changelog for upcoming R14.0.3 is also continuously updated on the wiki: https://wiki.trinitydesktop.org/Changelog_For_R14.0.3
Cheers
