When I right-click on a directory and select "Open with..." I see a list of applications, which are mostly file-management related: FileLight, TDESVN, etc. I want to add VLC to the list, but I can't figure out how to use File Associations for this; there seems to be no entry for "folder" or "directory". What am I missing?

"Proper way" is probably in
TCC >> TDE Components >> File Associations
But you should be also be able to just check the:
"Remember application association for this type of file" in the "Open with..." pop-up as well?

Yes! I forgot where that check box was. Thank you!

Hi LEslie, see inode/directory mime type. Cheers Michele

Yes! Works, but at first, just left-clicking on a directory in konqueror to open it started VLC, making it impossible to look at the contents. I fixed that by going into the Embedded tab and setting the radio button to "use settings for inode group".
Thanks, Leslie
