The "find text as you type" feature seems not to work for me in konqueror/khtml 3.5.12. The shortcut is still set correctly to /, but nothing happens when I press the / key.
Is this a known problem, or if not then how can I debug it further, please ?

I'm sure somebody on this list must be running some form of Trinity ! What happens when you load a web page in Konqueror, click on the page, press / and start typing one of the words on the page ? For instance:
load http://trinity-users.pearsoncomputing.net/?0::1341 press '/' type 'problem'
You should see that search string appear in the status bar and the word "problem" in the page should be highlighted. Does it work for anyone else ?

oh wait. I had a problem similar to that about 6 month ago. it did not affect '/' but some other keys - they were swallowed/remapped by some unknown reason (xine was affected and some other apps, too). It turned out to be some strange config issue with a certain version of X and trinity (the problem did not show up with fvwm). I finially got rid of it with a complete new installation of squeeze, a new X, and I jettisoned my old configs.

Using 3.5.11 here on Karmic 9.10: It works if I type _quickly_. If I type slowly or _not_at_all_ , it displays "Find stopped." When not typing at all, it times out in 3 seconds or less.

Hi Nick,
Does it work for anyone else ?
it doesn't work for me (LMDE + Trinity 3.5.12). I have to use the search-icon.

Thanks to everyone for trying it out. Seems that it can work, so not a problem with the Trinity packages - must be something else in my setup or config. I'll report back again after looking into the suggestions.

Just reporting back about my problem with "/" not starting incremental search in KHTML.
Although the key shortcut was already set to the default of "/", this was not working. I found that I had to change the shortcut key to something non-default and then set it back again. This didn't seem to "take" at first, but it did after my next re-boot. I guess something must have gone wrong with the shortcut mappings when I copied .kde to .trinity, but it is working now anyway.
Thanks again to everyone who helped me narrow it down,
Nick
