Trying to setup a clients new email. The new client is imap, user/passwd and ssl port 993 recieving and 465 sending mails. The sending works fine, the receiving says it is checking account xxx for new mail but that is far as it goes. No error messages popup.
Never used ssl/tls before do not know where to look for error mressages.
Searched the trinity user archives, not much mention of imap/ssl.
Thanks

are you trying to feed gmail into kmail? if so, you must use the "full emailaddress@gmail.com" in setting up receiving.

Thanks,
The mail server is not mine, the settings I use are from the email server admin.
Probably not helpful..but.., the settings work in Evolution, and Thunderbird :-(

I'm using it with ssl without significant issues. Did you check the security settings? like password type etc. You can always do tracedump and see the packets.
regards

"Bug 1287 - kmail does not honor the "Forever" option when accepting ssl certificates"
I found this bug, Bug 1287,. It started in 2012 and has been reopened, most recent comment #18, Kristopher, 8/28/2015. This looks similar to what I am experiencing.
I do not get pop-up dialogs about the certificate. My error message is a time out connection error..silently failing.
Google suggests kmail in kde 3.5.x had issues with retreiving mail with ssl. This has been fixed in KDE4's Kmail.

Not a problem here, I farmed that out to fetchmail 7 or 8 years ago
